RESPONSIBILITES OF COMMISSIONERS OF SCG SOFTBALL CLUB

Approved by the Board 1/1/2009 and revised 10/2/2009

The President of the Board shall appoint no more than three Commissioners for each League, one of which will be appointed as Chief Commissioner and the other two as Assistant Commissioners. The President may ask the Chief Commissioner for recommendation of persons for Assistant positions.

The Commissioners shall serve until they voluntarily retire, or are replaced by the President.

Their responsibilities shall be as follows:

1.) Selecting team Managers for their respective League and oversee the drafting of players per Club Rules.

2.) Enforce the approved SCG Club Rules for all Leagues.

3.) Either appoint a Head Umpire or personally assume the task of scheduling umpires for their respective League.

4.) Oversee team Managers to insure that Manager’s conform to the rules, provide Scoreboard Operators and perform field opening and closing duties whenever they are Home Team of the first or last game of the day. Also when manager’s team is visiting team, they provide 2 persons to broom the infield between games.

5.) Pick up League's containers of team uniforms from the designated storage location. Handle assigning uniforms to team Managers for distribution. Handle allocation and distribution of balls to team Managers to be brought to the park when that Manager is the home team. Handle distribution of batting order forms and scorekeeper books to the Managers that will be used throughout the season. Handle distribution of league caps to the Managers for distribution to team players.

6.) Receive any and all complaints and protests from their League and determine the appropriate action to be taken. Present the issue and resolution to the Board in writing. Should the Commissioners be unable to resolve the problem, the issue shall be referred to the Board for final determination.

7.) In as much as the Commissioners position is designed to be the conduit between the players, the managers and the Board, and vise versa, it shall be the responsibility of the Commissioners to present to the Board, in writing, any requests for changes, additions, deletions or variations of any rules of the Sun City Grand Softball Club. The request shall include the pros, cons and reasoning behind the proposal. If and when the request is deemed appropriate by the Board, it will then be the responsibility of the Commissioners to implement the change, if any, to their respective League thru the managers.
