American League Game Summaries Dec 10, 2009

SMILES of BEAUTY 18 - NATIONWIDE INSURANCE 10

Smiles of Beauty scored seven runs in the 7th inning to close out Nationwide ins. 18 to 10. Dick McCurdy led the twenty five hit attack with a perfect 3 for 3 day. Don Urzada and Larry Patelli both added three hits while Urzada , McCurdy and Paul Ramos each hit two run triples. Earl Allseitz picked up the win for the Dentists.

The Insurance men continued their slump. They have now lost (6) games in a row. Fred Wilkinson led the team with a 4 for 4 hitting day. Sub Jim Douglas added three hits including a towering home run and 3 RBI's. Jim Saltzman also had a nice day with (2) hits and 4 RBI's while John Schmidt, Jeff Lichter and Bill Shanahan each had 2 hits in the loss.

EDWARD JONES 14 - CAMINO del SOL 8

The Investors' took control of the game after scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. The Jones Boys turned 3 double plays. Dennis Dempsey played solid defense turning 2 double plays along with 2 hits. Jim Douglas had a 4 for 4 day at the plate including a 3 run homer. Sub Jim Hampton had 3 hits along with Bob Aiken, Ron Wagner and Lamar Forque who chipped with in 3 hits apiece. Lamar Forque was the winning pitcher. Terry Breslin, a new player at Grand, played a solid right field and had a 2 hit day including a triple.

On a cold morning Camino del Sol had trouble getting started and a late surge wasn't enough to close the gap with the Edward Jones team. Camino hitters getting two hits were Jerry Feldman, Andy Campbell, Dan Swafford, Jerry Horton, Ron Kaleta and sub Tony Cuda.

PARTY PLANET 16 - GLEASON TAX ADVISORY 15

PARTY PLANET watched their three run lead disappear as GLEASON plated 5 in the top of the fourth inning to go up by two. The "TAXMEN" scored two more in the 5th for a 4 run lead, but the "PARTY GUYS" responded with three to close the gap to one. GLEASON plated one in the top of the 6th, but PARTY PLANET grabbed the lead for good when Tony Cuda singled in the go ahead run and the defense shut the door for their second win.

Cuda enjoyed another big day, going 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 runs and 3 RBI. John Shuba hit a three run home run, scored three and drove in three and Larry Lincoln went 3 for 3 with two doubles and 2 RBI. Phil Murray, Roy Uecker, Jim Young, Doug McClymont, Bob Ahal and Bruce Ketcham chipped in with two hits apiece with Young and Ketcham including 2 RBI each in the 23 hit attack. Dick Moore helped the cause with three hits, two runs and an RBI in picking up the win.

John Linert took the loss for Gleasons'Red men, although they had 26 hits, led by Mike Heitman, John Richmond,Bob Boche and Art Solomon, who all had 3 hits. The only real bright spot on defense was turned in by Bob Boche, in throwing 2 men out at the plate...Brian Pin drove in 4 runs in the loss.

TREEDAH MAGEE REALTOR 16 - IN-LINE CHIROPRACTIC 15

Treedah MaGee had to go extra innings on Thursday to win a "hotly" contested game from In-Line Chiropractic 16 to 15, and move into second place alone in the standings. Treedah MaGee looked like it was going to blow out In-Line early, by leading 12 to 2 after 4 innings. In-Line then exploded for 5 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to tie the game going into the final inning. After In-Line scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th, to grab a two run lead, Treedah McGee scored 2 runs themselves, in the bottom of the 7th, both runs scoring after 2 outs, to send the game into extra innings. In the extra frame, In-Line scored a run to again take the lead, only to have Treedah MaGee counter with 2 runs to pull out the win. Danny Urbansky, Sal Politi and John Lawless got key hits in the extra frame to win the game for Treedah MaGee. Rick Lints and sub Jim Malde led Treedah MaGee , each with a perfect 4 for 4 day. John Richmond also chipped in with 3 hits, and again all members of Treedah MaGee had a least one hit.

In-Line Chiropractic scored 12 runs in a row late in the game, but fell just short in extra innings. Dale McLauglin had a homer, double, and single and Shel Peters, Ken Bedell, subs Jim Young and Marlin Campbell had 3 hits as part of a 26-hit attack. Peters’ hitting streak ended at 15, but he made 1st base on an error, so his on-base streak has reached 18 in a row! Jerry Baker, Lorne Carlson, Bob LaBreche and sub Brian Pin add 2 hits each. Tom Paiser was on base 3 times.

TEAM SUE PAHLKE 23 - PAUL TONE INSURANCE 11

The Sue Pahlke Team continued it's hitting spree in a 23-11 win over the Paul Tone Team to extend it's record to 7 wins and 1 loss. The team scored 5 runs in each of the first 4 innings and 3 in the fifth inning to end the game. Don Pahlke hit a home run for the 3rd straight game to get the team off to a big 5 run 1st inning. Tom Terry had an inside-the-park home run again. Wayne Weidenbach was the winning pitcher and had three hits. Chuck Cruz, Steve Katz, Gary Jotzke, Bob Curren and John Nerdahl each had three hits. Everyone else had two hits as the team accumulated 30 hits.

Paul Tone had 7 players with 2 hits each, including, Buck Craig, Larry Tolar, Terry Braun, Walter Keil, Jeff Silversteen, Tom McClintock, and sub Art Molina. The Insurers could not match the firepower of Sue Pahlke's sluggers.
