White Division Rules
revised October 20, 2006
1. Draft is conducted once a year in September/October unless the Board decides to have a re-draft for the second half of the fall/winter season.
2. Players are chosen from a rated list provided by the Board's appointed rating committee. After White League players are drafted, all remaining players will be listed. This list will be provided to the Blue League managers at least three days prior to the draft. White League players drafted will be selected from the list that will contain the number of players required for the stated number of White League teams.
3. The number of players drafted will be determined by the number of teams in this Division. The number of teams will be determined each year...it is the desire to have no less than 8 teams nor more than 12 teams in the White Division.
4. Each team will have a minimum of 12 players.
5. Each team will play 11 players which includes a rover.
6. Only ASA approved bats allowed.
7. The 44/375 ball will be used.
8. Each manager is to provide a line up to their counterpart, prior to the beginning of the game. Players who require a substitute runner must be indicated on this line up card. A substitute runner can be used at any base.
a. Substitute Runners: A player may substitute run for another player once per inning and only 2 times during the game.
9. All players on a team who come to play will play offensively (bat):
a. All players on a team will play at least 1/2 game defensively if able (3 or 4 innings)
10. If there is a play at first base and the runner hits the inside bag (white) he will automatically be called out (for safety reasons) unless he is trying to avoid a collision with the defensive player.
11. A mercy rule will be employed for all games. A 12 run differential after 5 innings is the the rule.
12. A One-Up rule will be used in all games. All subsequent home runs until the opposing team hits a home run will count as a single with runners advancing only one base.
13. All games are scheduled for 7 innings and 75 minutes in length. The scoreboard operator will notify the home plate umpire when the game reaches the 60 minute mark. The home plate umpire will then notify both managers as follows:
a. If a game is between innings, the start of the new inning will be the last inning and the unlimited run rule will apply.
b. If an inning has already started, the following inning will be the last inning and the unlimited run rule will apply.
c. If the game ends in a tie, there will be one (1) extra inning played. The player who made the last out of the previous inning will start the extra inning at 2nd base and must reach 3rd base before a pinch runner is allowed. A team may not score more than five (5) runs in the extra inning.
d. In the event the score is still tied after the extra inning has been played, each team will be credited with half (1/2) of a win.
14. Each team will be allowed to obtain up to 5 subs. Teams can play with a minimum of 4 regular team members and 5 subs. If a team can field only 3 regular team members, they will need to forfeit the game.
15. Team managers in the White Division will be responsible for getting their required number of subs. Managers will obtain subs as follows:
a. Call a player off of the Sub List for the White Division. A sub will be of the same rating as the player being replaced or .3 (point 3) greater in the rating scale. /p>
Example to replace a 2.3 player:
1. Any player on the White Division Sub list rated from 2.3 to 2.6 must be used. If no one within the 2.3 to 2.6 rating scale is available, the manager then goes to all regular team assigned players to get a sub starting with a 2.3 rated player and going upward to the 2.95 rated player.
2. If a team is short a player due to someone not showing up at the start of the game or an injury occurs during the game, a replacement player may be added from the stands. The replacement player from the stands must have a similar or lower rating than the player being replaced, (2.3 rated player is being replaced, anyone from 2.3 to 2.95 can be selected).
3. The manager must advise the opposing manager of the rating of the person being replaced and the rating of the player coming out of the stands. Opposing manager must give his consent to the player selected.
b. Players on the sub list may play Two games per week.
c. Regular team assigned player may substitute only ONE time per week.
d. Players off the sub list or subs off of a regular team that sub in excess of the number of times permitted will be suspended for the next two games after the violation.
16.All subs will bat at any place in the batting order.
17. An injured player will be passed over in the lineup with no out assessed. That player may not play the rest of the game. If a player leaves prior to the end of the game for a non-injury or non-illness problem, an out will be charged for each time his at bat rotation occurs.
18. If a player is going to miss 6 games or more consecutively, the manager may request a permanent replacement through the league commissioner.
