Summer Softball Basics
April 25, 2007
1. Visiting Team drags the field after their game unless it is the last game of the day.
2. Any sub from another roster has to be equal or higher rating than the missing player.
You cannot better your team by getting a sub from another roster.
However as an incentive to use the Sub List, you can get a sub from the Sub List
who is .2(two tenths) better than the missing player.
3. Subs can bat anywhere in the order.
4. Turn in a line-up to your opponent manager before the game. Place a second line-up in
the drawer behind the home team dugout. It should show subs ratings and the rating of
players being replaced.
It should indicate players needing a runner.
5. Pinch runners can run only twice per game and only once per inning.
6. Subs from another roster can sub only once per week. If they sub more than once per
week and are discovered the penalty is a two week suspension of the player.
7. Subs from the sub list can sub twice per week. Try to use the sub list.
They paid their money and deserve to play.
8. We will use the 1 and 1 rule which means each batter starts with one ball and one strike.
With two strikes the batter can have one ‘courtesy’ foul ball.
The second foul with two strikes becomes strike three.
9. We will use the 12 run Mercy Rule. The games end if a team is ahead by 12 or more runs
after five innings.
10. You cannot get a sub until you fall below 11 players. The only exception is when you
have no pitcher.
11. There will be no limit on the number of home runs.
12. Thanks your subs and compliment the umpires after each game.
13. All players who show up will bat and play at least half the game in the field.
14. You cannot have more than five subs unless you have commissioner approval.
