The Golden Barrels remain undefeated. Fred Wilkinson had a home run and a single. Jeff Silverstein, George Williams and Dale Schroeder had 3 hits. Great defense by Jeff Silverstein and Mike Dakak helped winning pitcher Dick Moore.
Ocotillos 16 – Javalinas 4
The Ocotillos won by scoring 16 runs for the second week in a row to remain undefeated. Buck Craig had 4 hits and Brian Statman made several running catches in right field. Winning pitcher Tom Sanders stymied the Javalinas throughout the game.
Desert Sands 15 – Saguaros 14
It took 8 innings for the Desert Sands to win by 1 run over the Saguaros and remain undefeated. Hitting star Ken Krzeminski was 4 for 4 with a grand slam home run. Charlie Vrana and Larry Smith were 4 for 5. The winning pitcher was Jack Pender.
Rattlers 11 – Scorpions 10
A super defensive effort by Milt “Scoop” Stern kept the Rattlers in the game and undefeated. The Rattlers scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th for the win. Ben Hammett was the winning pitcher. For the Scorpions Ray Gibson was 3 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Wayne Weidenbach was 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Sub Mike Heitman and Jim Saltzman were 2 for 3.
