NATIONWIDE INSURANCE 22 - THT FLOORING 17
The Insurers handed the league champs their fourth loss in the final game of the spring season with Ralph Webster making a nice running catch in left center field for the last out. Artie Stackpole picked up the win with lots of help from his offense as Roger Neumann and Jake Groh were both perfect at the plate, going 4 for 4. Nick Marchese and Art Molina added 3 for 4 efforts as did subs John Hammel and Tim Collins. Neumann, Hammel and Collins each included a double with their hits as NATIONWIDE finished in third place with 11 wins and 8 losses.
THT pounded out 26 hits and scored 17 runs but it wasn't enough as they lost 21-17 to Nationwide. Sub Don Pahlke led the floormen with four hits while Glen Turner, Gary Jotske, Larry Doukas, and Terry Braun added three hits each.Pahlke and Dick McCurdy each homered as THT ended the season as league champs with a 15 - 4 record.
TEAM SUE PAHLKE 13 - ZEN'S CAFE 11
The Pahlke realtors finished the season on a winning note with a 24 hit ,13 run effort led by Don Pahlke's four monster home runs(must be a first) and four RBIs,which would have been nine RBIs were it not for the league rule that counted the last three as singles. Larry Patelli also had four hits. Jim Young,Larry Elliot.,Glen Turner and Gerald Baker all added three hits to the offense. Tom Quamma pitched an excellent game and picked up the victory with a no walks given effort.The realtors ended the season in forth spot with an 8- 11 record.
ZEN'S could not overcome SUE PAHLKE's 5-run 6th inning, and their 7th inning rally fell short. Norbert Lewandowski continued his hot hitting going 4 for 4 with a double and a triple in the losing effort. Sub Jon Nelson went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles. Tom McClintock, Lyle Gordon, Earl Allseitz, and subs Sal Politi and Fred Wilkinson added 2 hits each.
WELLS FARGO BANK 12 - TREEDAH MAGEE REALTOR 11
The REALTORS plated 5 runs in the top of the third to grab a one run lead after three. The BANKERS responded with 4 runs in the fourth and 3 in the fifth, but a four run rally by TREEDAH MAGEE in the top of the 6th closed the gap to two. Finally, with the tying run on and two outs, Lorne Carlson hauled in a fly ball to right center field to preserve the win and a 12 - 7 record for a second place finish for WELLS FARGO BANK.
Mike Hirsch lit up the scoreboard with a 3 for 3, 3 run four RBI performance that included a home run and a double. John Hammel knocked in two and scored one on a double and a single and Billy Shanahan was solid at the rover position while plating two with a triple and a single, scoring once.
Lead off Tim Collins crossed the plate three times with a walk, a fielders choice and a double while Jeff Lichter went 2 for 3 with a run and Del Deiner added a 2 for 3, one run, one RBI effort. Ron Wagner knocked in two and scored with a double and a walk while Carlson, Dale Schroeder, Billy Marchionni and pitcher Dick Moore added one hit each in the win.
Bob Boche, Lee Johnson, Gary Jotzke, John Lawless, Sal Politi, Ralph Webster and Fred Wilkinson all contributed 2 hits as the Realtors lost to the Bankers 11 to 12 in the last game of the season.
