To:    Board of Directors Sun City Grand Softball Club                                                 February 16, 2010

From:   Sam Bernhardt, Chief of Umpires, National League

Subject: Club Resolution

Where As: The Sun City Grand Softball Club has established special League Rules of Play, whereas, official ASA Rules do not apply.

Where As: These rules of Play apply to all Leagues, unless otherwise noted herein the body of rules.

Where As: Official ASA Rules will apply to all leagues unless they are amended by one or more of the Official SCG Softball Club Rules.

Where As: That SCG Softball Rule 16, titled Ground Rules, subset E, which reads:  Pitchers may throw from anywhere within the six foot box behind the pitching rubber.

Therefore, let it be Resolved that SCG Softball Club Rule 16, titled Ground Rules, subset E be amended to add a second sentence that addresses pitching requirements.

Let it be Resolved that SCG softball Club add the following sentence which reads: “The Pitcher’s throw to home plate must be delivered with a perceptible Arc and Reach a height of at least six feet from the ground while not exceeding a maximum height of 12 feet from the ground.”(2009 ASA rule 6-3H) Where As: If the SCG Softball club membership and or the Board of Directors do not approve the above resolution, the result would be a dramatic and immediate change for our present pitchers. ASA Rules Committee has changed the pitching rules for 2010,that limit the maximum height of a pitcher throw to home plate to 10 feet from the previous 12 foot maximum height.  Any pitch that exceeds 10 foot in height will be deemed an illegal pitch.
